答案     People nowadays live under a high level of pressure, and therefore, finding a way to relax is of paramount importance to their well-being. It is held that it is better to relax by watching a movie or reading a book than doing physical exercise. Personally, I have my doubts. On the contrary, I believe doing physical exercise is a more ideal way to take a break from the hustle and bustle of modern life.
    First of all, many people work at the office, and thus have a sedentary lifestyle. It is common for people to sit at the desk for hours. This is very unhealthy as people are likely to gain weight easily and have aching backs due to the fact that they stay still for too long, maintaining one sitting posture. Reading books or watching movies would require more sitting. l am in doubt about the benefit of sitting for an even longer period of time after already having sit for hours at work. Doing physical exercises, by contrast, will take people away from desks and work, make them move and stretch their arms and legs. It will also generate more adrenaline and dopamine in the body that make people feel happier. Furthermore, people can get more fresh air when they do physical exercise outdoors.
    Secondly, people can have more opportunities to interact with others when they do physical exercise; the interpersonal interaction would make people feel relaxed. One can invite family and friends to do sports such as playing badminton and table tennis or swimming. They can compete with each other or play as a team. They can also share any problems or concerns with others while doing sports. Moreover, when people have worries or experience troubles, doing some intense physical exercise with others, such as boxing, is a healthy way to loosen up. In comparison, reading or watching movies is more likely to be an individual activity. One does not usually talk with others while reading or watching a movie, so the level of interaction involved is much lower than that when doing sports.
    Admittedly, reading a book or watching movies, in the sense of enriching people’s spiritual world, is also a good way to relax. However, after making allowance for the sedentary lifestyle and the level of interaction involved in these two types of recreation, I tend to choose relaxing by doing physical exercise.
