The Cambodia authority say around thirty children and staff held hostage by gunmen at an international school in Siem Reap have been freed. They say one child reported to be Canadian was killed by the hostage takers. Reports say two of the gunmen were killed and four others arrested. The identity and motives are not clear. G. L reports from the Cambodian Capital Phnom Perth.
   "Diplomats have confirmed that a child of Canadian nationality died at some point in the siege. Police at the scene said the hostage takers had killed the child before they stormed the building. Cambodian Information Minister said the men were threatening to shoot the 29 children one by one. Parents who had gathered at the school said they saw armed officers entered the compound midway through the afternoon. Gunfire was heard and then children emerged, some of them, in the arms of adults. The siege began shortly after classes started when masked gunmen entered the school. They demanded a thousand dollars in cash, small arms and a vehicle to take them to Thailand."
