Why did father push me in front of Mona Lisa, and make me listen to symphonic music? I guess that’s the thing called fate. I was 27 before I dared ask him this question (before I was afraid to even mention that woman’s name).  He said Chopin is good for you.  Whenever I would burst into tears, he would close me up alone in the room and make me listen to Chopin. Back then, no one nearby had a record player and TV like tls. Meat, cloth, cooking oil and such goods were still rationed. Many of our neighbors had to rely on left-over greens they scooped up at the market to get by. But we were the only family of’ intellectuals in the building, and father reckoned I should feel fortunate.
