German have lawmakers voted to extend and expand the role of German peacekeepers

German lawmakers have voted to extend and expand the role of German peacekeepers in Kosovo.
     By an overwhelming margin, the German parliament approved a one year extension Friday on Germany’s participation in the NATO-led peacekeeping force in Kosovo. Germany contributes about 5,000 troops to the force.
     The parliament also voted to allow German troops inside a buffer zone between Kosovo, Serbia and Montenegro. German troops had previously been barred from entering the zone.
