This passage is most probably intended for [br]
There is no place in today’s complex society where man is completely isolated from textile fabrics. They clothe him, protect him, decorate him, and provide him with many hours of enjoyment. Fabrics may cover the furniture and floors in his home; they may curtain his windows. Textiles are found in kitchens, bathrooms, bedrooms, and living rooms. Fabrics make public building attractive, sometimes sound-proof and specialized fabrics are used in industry or for a variety of purposes.
Since all of us come into contact with textiles many times in our everyday lives, each of us can profit from knowledge of textile fibers and their uses. If the prospective consumer knows something about the textile he wishes to purchase and if the merchant and the sale staff know something about the products they are selling, sales involving textile products can become relatively intelligent transactions.
Textile fibers have been used for many things, and man is continually finding new applications for these "building blocks". Fibers are used in the creation of clothing, home furnishings, and household textiles; they are used in the building trades; chosen for insulation on appliances; selected industry for such products as filter cloths, pulley belts, and so forth; found in all forms of transportation; used in nearly every type of activity or situation conceivable, including man’s conquest of space.
选项
A、Because they prevent buildings from noise.
B、Because they make buildings strong.
C、Because they make buildings beautiful.
D、Because they make buildings special.
答案
C
解析
题目问的是纺织物有利于公共建筑物的原因,文中提到Fabrics make public building attractive,由此可知答案为C 。文中也提到纺织物能隔音,但这并不能说明A 正确,其表达过于绝对。
