Former Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic has arrived at The Hague late Thursday and immediately flew by a police helicopter to the prison of the U-N war crimes tribunal. He has been charged with crimes against humanity committed in Kosovo in 1999. Slobodan Milosevic’ s arrival in The Hague is a historic moment. He is the first head of state ever to be indicted while still in office, and soon to face trial. Tribunal spokesman Jim Landale says it is also an important moment in the life of the tribunal. Mr. Landale says this court was set up to try the top commanders and architects of a policy that brought misery to the Balkans. And, he says, it looks as though that has succeeded.
