    There are a lot of reasons why so many young people are choosing not to get married today. One big reason is money. Young adults in the U.S. are really struggling to find good jobs, and many are hesitant to take a big step like marriage without achieving a certain level of financial security first.
    Another big reason for the decline of marriage in America is a great shift in cultural attitudes. Americans do not place the same kind of importance on marriage and having children that they once did.

    The age of getting married is known to be closely connected with the youth of a society. If people are getting married older and older, it will drive our society into an aging one. So it is very important to track the marriage age during a long term.
    From the given chart, during the years from 1890 to 2010, American men and women tended to wait longer than ever to get married while men seemed to marry at an older age than women. In 1890, men married under 27 while women married below 24. Both the married age figures declined during the following 50 years and reached the lowest in 1950, men at 24 and women at around 21. Since then, the median age at first marriage rose rapidly though men’s age remained the same at 24 between 1950 and 1970. When it came to 2010, we were at an all-time high level of 28.5 for men and 27 for women.
    It is said that why people get married late involves the financial factor and young people’s attitude towards marriage. But from the graph, it is very hard to identify whether there is any direct relationship between these two factors and late marriage of men and women or not.
