答案     The Chinese peasants’ annual income went up steadily from 1978 to 2004. In 1978 peasants got only 133 yuan one year. In 2004 peasants’ annual income rose to 2936 yuan.
    There are three reasons for this increase. First, since 1978 China began to practice the reform and opening policy. This policy benefited peasants economically. Second, because of China’s favorable economic and political policies, an increasing number of peasants have flocked into cities engaging in construction, manufacturing, food and home services as well as public security. This has added quite a lot of money to their annual income. Third, the government provides peasants some preferential policies such as canceling value-added tax, individual income tax and the agricultural tax to reduce peasants’ economic burden.
    It is said that peasants’ income will keep going up, but they are still poor with the income of about 3000 yuan one year. They even can’t afford the fees for high education. The government should take more measures to increase peasants’ income.
