M: I suppose you’re right, but[23]I’ve decided that I really want to develop my artistic abilities. I think that joining an organization like that would be a good step,
W: Well, you don’t have to join a fancy organization just to develop your artistic a-bilities, you know? You can sketch or paint anywhere. All you really need is some art supplies, and you can get started anytime.
M: That’s true. I used to go out to the park and sketch, but I always gave up after a few weeks.
W:[24]It might be easier if you set yourself a regular schedule to follow. If you set aside time every day to work on a project, you would be surprised how much you could accomplish in a few weeks.
M: That would be great! You know, instead of spending all that money on joining the club, I could buy some really nice books or videos to develop some special techniques.
W: That’s true. Of course, you could even look for art books at the library instead of buying them.
M: You know, Jenny,[25]I think you just saved me a lot of money. I’d like to return the favor. How about if I paint your portrait?
