    There is an old saying that "Fool me once, shame on you: fool me twice, shame on me". I think the saying has much truth in it. We should learn from our mistakes and not allow people to take advantage of us repeatedly.
    Some people pretend to be friendly for various wrong reasons, such as for money or for something that can benefit them. If someone intentionally fools a person once, the person who is fooled and betrayed should learn from the hurtful truth. When the similar circumstances occur, people should think twice and take the past failures or mistakes into consideration when making a decision. To some extent, being betrayed and fooled is essential to one’s personal growth. It indirectly stimulates us to be more mature and enables us to be confronted with the reality of the world.
    Meanwhile, we shouldn’t be discouraged to trust people. This old saying actually discourages trusting too much and advises us to learn from the past.
