                                      Building a Good Teacher-Student Relationship
   A good teacher-student relationship is one of the guarantees for successful teaching and learning. A good relationship leads to fruitful cooperation, that is, the teacher can guide his/her students more effectively and the students can learn more efficiendy.
   An ideal teacher-student relationship never comes easily. It depends on the conscious efforts from both the teacher and the students.  The best example can be drawn from my personal experience as a college student. We had developed a warm, friendly relationship with our English teacher, John Kent. John won us over with the special efforts he poured into our’ class. His lectures were always well prepared and delivered dearly and imaginatively -- he explained his ideas with paintings and recordings, and once he even sang a song to illustrate a point. We also admired the fact that he spent time generously with students outside of classroom. Inspired by our teacher’s devotion, we studied all the more diligently, always respectful and polite. We were all eager to show our appreciation by doing well in studies.
   Of course, things are never so simple and misunderstanding may occur once in a while. In this case, a grudge-beating attitude would never help. Both sides should be kind, patient and frank. By sitting down and having a good talk there is no trouble that can’t work out.
