答案     With rapid globalization and socioeconomic development, a number of people with different backgrounds, experiences and beliefs come to visit or work in China. Therefore, developing an appreciation of the unique qualities of other cultures can be really helpful. Among all the options to develop this appreciation such as travelling and seeing movies, reading is the most effective way.
    For one thing, reading works by authors who have a close relationship with a particular culture allows people to gain an authentic glimpse into the food, music, language, religion, and way of a life of a particular group of people. For another, compared with either travelling or seeing movies, it is the most cost-effective way. In addition, no matter where or when, we can always access and read the books we like to become knowledgeable about a foreign culture.
    To conclude, reading can help us become a well-rounded person who is sensitive to the unique qualities of others and broaden our horizon of thinking in a more authentic way.
