     (1) Recently, some cities are considering to ban food on subways, which has sparked heated discussion. (2) Some people support it due to the trash people leave. (3) Besides sanitary and mechanical concerns, food can also cause fights, as was found last week that one passenger criticized a woman for eating stinky Tofu on the subway.
     (4) However, some others are opposed to the idea. People like eating on the subway in the morning because they don’t have enough time to eat at home. Sometimes that may be the only time for meal especially when the commuters travel long distances. (5) Besides, there are people, for example diabetics, who do need food at various times to maintain blood-sugar levels.
     (6) Personally, I disagree with the ban because of the huge inconvenience caused to commuters. Still, I believe we should have some common courtesy. (7) I think we all have responsibility to treat our subway system and fellow riders with respect, and that extends to food as well.
