Step 1:Warming-up
1.Greetings.
2.Guide students to watch a video clip about Charles Dickens.Ask students to discuss what they know about him and tell them that today will learn something more about him.Lead in the topic today.
Step 2:Presentation
Give students 2 minutes to skim the passage and find the main idea of it.Then ask them to observe the sentences underlined in the passage and to discuss with their partner what they can find among these sentences.

2.Then they will be asked to deal with a task which is a little bit harder,that is to rewrite the sentences using the inversions.And invite some of them to share their answers.

Step 4:Production
Ask students to talk about their favorite writers and what they have learned from them.15 minutes are given for discussion.They should use inversion patterns as many as possible.
Step 5:Summary and Homework
Summary:invite a student to summarize today’s lesson.Ask students to cultivate the taste of appreciating the books.
Homework:ask students to write down a short paragraph under any topics(3 sentences at least)with inversions.
