Now in local news,(83)Mayor Parker attended the opening of the new subway line. The new subway system will take passengers from 10 downtown stops to Middletown International Airport in about 30 minutes. With departures every five minutes from 5 a.m. to 1 a.m., metro officials hope to ease traffic congestion around the airport and prevent missed flights due to traffic jams.(84)According to the mayor, the new subway system will actually save taxpayers’ money by eliminating the need to build a new domestic airport closer to Middletown. The construction of that airport would have cost over 150 million dollars. The money saved has been assigned for much needed public health and education projects.
